HOT ISSUES - Commercial Solicitors At Your Door,
Flooding , Zoning Rewrites, Old York Road Corridor and Over-development, Eminent Domain, Tax Abatements, Tax Collection Costs,  A Place to Meet.......

Commercial Solicitation Door to Door A revision to our Solicitation Ordinance will bring Solicitors to your door - but is there more in mind when this was crafted
Flooding - Are we really 30 million behind in Flooding projects - that is $1400 per household in Abington while Commissioners have been bragging about not raising taxes for 18 years.  And this is coming to light in the worst of economic times .....

Zoning Rewrites   Is your home in an area where the zoning is about to change?  Is there more development about to happen than might be desirous based on changes to commercial  zoning that are under discussion?  Changes to all residential zones R1 through R4 are  also being discussed - and in addition to these changes, sections of some neighborhoods are under discussion to become "transition zones "- their own home might end up zoned commercial. In addition, the long term future if discussions continue as they are, will show sharply increased density in some areas,  increased traffic everywhere and other consequences. Will residents understand in time to make their voices count --???? read  more
A Place To Meet - Abington Residents need a  place to meet where they can regularly hear each others voices - the school has turned us down - thankfully we have had help, but our Township and School should be letting our taxpayer funded rooms that lie vacant be used by residents to discuss ----- well----  things like THIS .......
The Baederwood - November 18th the Developer heard from LOTS of unhappy residents - the Township has hired a lawyer and a planner to review the issues ...

Tax Abatements - Aug 13 at the 8pm Board of Commissioners meeting  ten years of abated taxes for some commercial properties, 5 for others, passed. Won't residents and  businesses  have to assume a larger burden if these businesses do not, and doesn't this reward some for actions that led to the "qualification for th reduction"  in the first place ?
Eminent Domain - in Roslyn - a property in the process of being taken by eminent domain. Several lawsuits have resulted thus far.  Behind the property in question, zoning re-writes for some residences are a topic of discussion .
Tax Collection Costs- Started late last year - still trying to get the cost of the tax office pinned down.... Really. Still.
